Corkin Gallery: Sharon Switzer Solo Show

Sharon Switzer at The Corkin Gallery

Video artist Sharon Switzer, who also happens to be the Executive Producer of the Toronto Urban Film Festival,  launches a solo show at Toronto’s Corkin Gallery,  Saturday, November 21st from 12:00 Noon – 5:00 pm.

The works of I Should Be Dreaming of Butterflies pair unlikely, poetic, and darkly humorous texts with evocative visuals. The title refers to what Sharon should be doing — dreaming of butterflies — instead of what she is doing — thinking of life in a realistic, banal and sometimes negative way.

An artist and curator, Sharon has been exhibiting since the early 1990’s. She regularly produces and curates public art festivals and exhibitions through her work with Art for Commuters. The first curatorial collective that she formed, Clamorous Intentions, was active in Toronto during the early 1990’s, producing three large-scale, multimedia public events in a two year period.  Her video work has traveled to museums across Canada as part of ‘18 Illuminations,’ and a catalogue of her work was produced by the McMaster Museum of Art.
