Every year I get to put on my RBF (resting bitchy face) and then hit the red carpet at Just For Laughs. Even though we run a very small (by industry standards) red carpet, it’s still stressful. There are anxious photographers, video crews jostling for space, and those inevitable last minute additions that force everyone to take a step to the right to squeeze in just one more videographer. And that’s even before the talent arrives.
Speaking of talent… during the past three years that I’ve been involved with Just For Laughs, we’ve had some of the biggest names in comedy walk the red carpet: Amy Poehler, Nick Kroll, Mitch Hurwitz, Edgar Wright, Seth Myers, Sarah Silverman, Michael Sera, Andy Samberg (and the entire cast of Brooklyn Nine-Nine), Bill Burr, Seth Rogan and Nathan Fielder. They’ve all been super gracious, taking the time to talk to each and every outlet (which makes me look like some sort of genius and keeps everyone behind the stanchions happy).
This year we had a great media turnout with Comedy Network, CTV, CTV E-Talk, CW Network, Esquire, ET Canada and Maker Studios’ ‘Talk of Fame’ just some of the outlets in attendance. Kudos to everyone who took their five minutes of questions with Kevin Hart, Patton Oswalt, Armando Iannucci, Ellie Kemper, Dana Gould, TJ Miller and Thomas Middleditch and turned it into something memorable!
Here’s some of the video coverage we got:
