Annie Bradley and her all-female development team of Amy Green, Bec Taggart and Deborah Marks have launched a Kickstarter campaign for Blowback. The short thriller will be written and directed by Bradley. The team is hoping to hit an initial target of $10,000. This will allow them to begin production on the film. The plan is to eventually turn this initial effort into a full-fledged feature. Joanne Boland (Gangland Undercover, Strange Empire, X-Men: Apocalypse) and Peter Mooney (Saving Hope, Rookie Blue) will star.
Inspired by a personal experience, Blowback is a suspense-fuelled cautionary tale which explores themes of female identity and fear filtered through the men and women sworn to serve and protect. Dead set on getting ahead by any means necessary, Officer Jo Bellamy (Joanne Boland) is making rookie decisions trying to ingratiate herself into a club that doesn’t want her for a member. When Tony Burke (Peter Mooney), a fellow detective, refuses to let go of their sexual past, she humiliates him in front of their peers, unaware of the deadly game she’s set in motion.
Rewards for supporting the project include a personal shout out on social media, for a minimum $1 donation, to Executive Producer credits on IMDB for a donation of $3,000 or more.
This is a highly deserving project by a hard-working director. We hope you can get behind it.
