AVATAR SECRETS, an interactive documentary developed exclusively for the iPad, is getting a big push from METRO, Canada’s most read national daily newspaper, with an exclusive national promotion that includes print, online and mobile.
Starting today, METRO will feature a daily exclusive video preview of AVATAR SECRETS on the METRO website. The first chapter has already rolled out. The remaining 9 chapters will unlock over the next two weeks, concluding October 24th. The entire series of 10 chapters will be available for viewing until October 27th.
Along with the video previews, METRO has created a special section on its website where readers can learn more about the project and download and share a series of 10 collectors’ cards.
In print, METRO will be posting daily editorial beginning today with a feature Q&A between writer/director Ramona Pringle and author Douglas Coupland (Generation X, Microserfs, Kitten Clone: Inside Alcatel-Lucent). Readers of the print edition can also scan AVATAR SECRETS images with the Metro News app to reveal additional video content and interviews with several of the experts featured in documentary. First up is researcher Jessica Hammer.
AVATAR SECRETS was written and directed by Ramona Pringle and developed exclusively for the iPad. The interactive documentary (or appumentary) features 10 chapters, 30 minutes of additional video content and expert interviews, and 36 ‘hot spot’ annotations. Viewers can watch AVATAR SECRETS the same way the would a traditional documentary film — from start to finish. Or they can explore further using the touch screen capabilities of the iPad.
The AVATAR SECRETS app will be available for download in Canada ONLY from the App Store, starting October 15th. An international version is expected to roll-out in Spring 2015.
